Grace sat down in her Shakespeare Literature class before the bell rang. Today they were working in groups for an assignment. After the professor assigned the groups, they got together and talked. There was one guy in Grace’s group who had been friendly with her since the school year had began. His name was Chad and Grace learned that he liked reading and sports. Once they were in groups, Chad sat next to Grace, trying to make conversation. “Grace, I was wondering what you thought of this page?” He asked, moving in closer to her. She answered and they continued to talk throughout the class until it was over. As Grace was walking out of the room, Chad called after her. “Hey Grace, I was wondering if you wanted to go somewhere after class on Thursday to catch up on the notes?” Grace wasn’t thinking anything of it. “Sure, sounds great.” He smiled at her before turning and walking the other way. Grace headed home without any further thoughts about it.
Grace looked at Cheyanne who was standing up slowly. She got up with her and bit her lip when Cheyanne talked about her dad. “Cheyanne, believe me I know how you’re feeling. My dad kicked me out as soon as Rich and I told him. But things will get better, they will. When you see the baby on the screen for the first time it’s so amazing.” She looked down at Elise. “When I saw Elise for the first time I had never felt so much love for anything in my life. It’s scary but it’s beautiful and you’ll get through it. I’m here for you no matter what. Grace nodded when Liv talked about Nick. “He has so much built up anger and he’s been visiting my cousin and talking to her. She talked about Gio and Grace frowned. “He has you now, he’ll get better soon.” She smiled and took Liv’s hand. Elise giggled and reached out for Liv then crawled over to her. Grace smiled and looked at Elise. “Can you say Auntie Liv, Elise?” Elise looked at Liv. “Teeee?” Grace giggled and looked at Liv. “So what else do you have to tell me? It’s been so long since we’ve just talked.”Liv shook her head. “Sounds like Nick hasn’t changed at all. I vaguely heard about the thing with Danny. Nick has a serious issue with the Rossi brothers that he needs to figure out. I’ve purposely kept my distance cause I can’t with him, yeah? Like eventually we need to all grow up and remember this isn’t College anymore.” Liv bit her lip when Grace asked about Gio, looking down before answering. “Okay, I suppose. Actually he’s been going through a lot of stuff between everything that happened that night, he like went into a depressed kind of state and then he finally starts to come around and some things went down with his Mum and Danny’s Dad. It’s just been a lot, in my opinion a little to much you know?”

Cheyanne held Elise as she cooed, “She’s beautiful Gracey, she really is.” Grace asked how she was, “I’m okay…better,” she said raising Elise up in the air and spinning her around. Grace asked about Danny and Nick, “Nick’s been visiting me a lot. We’ve become good mates.” She hesitated when she thought about Danny, “I spoke with Danny the other day. We’re doing this whole distancing thing…I miss him though.” Cheyanne bit her lip nervously as she looked at Elise. She was still cooing in her arms. Cheyanne’s heart swelled. She loved babies and always wanted a family of her own. She thought back to the pregnancy test upstairs. She wanted a family but not this soon and not this way. Cheyanne felt her throat closing she needed to tell Grace, “I have to talk to you about something important, actually. I did want to see you but I also needed to let something off my chest. Cheyanne paced in her room holding a pregnancy test in her hand. She didn’t open it yet, she was afraid too. Grace was coming over soon and Cheyanne felt compelled to tell her what was bothering her. She missed Grace and was scared to drop this on her. Cheyanne heard a knock at the door, she felt her heart pound in her chest. She quickly hid the test under her covers and made her way down the stairs. Cheyanne took a deep breath in before opening the door and smiling, “Gracey,” she said embracing her, “I’ve missed you.”
Grace slapped Rich’s arm lightly. “It’ll be fun!” He suggested they go to bed and Grace nodded, taking his hand and followed him upstairs. She changed into something more comfortable and climbed into bed beside Rich. He talked about how fast things were changing. Grace kissed him and played with his hair. “Things are changing but we’ll be the same. Everything is going to be okay.” Grace kissed him one more time and snuggled into him, resting her head on his chest. “I love you.” She closed her eyes and quickly fell asleep.Rich asked about the stories and Grace looked up at him. “She told me about the time the two of you came home drunk and fell asleep with the pigs. I told her about the time you two went out with Ryder and all of those pictures were posted of the two of you.” She giggled. “I’m going out with her soon, I think I’ll see if Liv can come with us. It should be fun.” She smiled and kissed Rich’s cheek.
Rich shook his head at the thought of Grace, Jamie, and Liv out on the town together. “I feel like that would be a recipe for disaster. You would giggle. Jamie would be awkward. Liv would be flat out drunk.” Rich chuckled. “Lets’ go to bed, yeah? I’m fucking exhausted.” Rich took Grace’s hand and they walked to the bedroom. Rich took off his shirt and his boxers before climbing into bed. “You have school tomorrow. Another full week.” Rich gathered Grace in his arms as she got into bed. “Life is changing fast at the moment. Hopefully Mr. Arnold will give me answers.” Rich kissed Grace’s head.
Grace was in Elise’s nursery dressing her to visit Cheyanne. It was the first time she was going to see Cheyanne since she left Bristol. After Elise was dressed, Grace kissed Rich bye and let him say bye to Elise before walking to the bus stop. Elise had just woken from a nap and was giggling and babbling to Grace. They arrived at the train station and Grace got on with Elise, reading to her to keep her entertained. Once they were in Wales, Grace took the bus to Cheyanne’s house. She hadn’t been there since she was much younger so it felt strange to her. She walked up to the door and knocked, waiting for Cheyanne to answer.
Grace played with Elise’s hair while Rich talked to her. Elise seemed happy when Rich talked about her being a big sister. She looked at Rich and smiled, then kissed Elise’s cheek. “She’ll be the best big sister.” Something came to Grace’s mind that she had been thinking…Rich assured Grace he could handle taking care of Elise. She nodded and kissed him back as he kissed her. “Okay.” She smiled as Rich asked Elise if they could handle it. Elise clapped and Grace leaned over to kiss her cheek. Then looked at Rich and kissed him. “I’m nervous about starting uni, I don’t want to leave Elise or you.” She picked up Elise and kissed both of her cheeks. Elise giggled and pulled herself up where she was standing on Grace’s lap. Then she leaned over slightly unbalanced and kissed Grace’s cheek as Grace helped keep her steady.
Grace’s aunt told her to go home as Rich walked over to take her hand. She nodded as her aunt explained that Cheyanne couldn’t stay in Bristol. Grace hugged her uncle and aunt before taking Rich’s hand to walk out of to the car. She put her weight on Rich, finding it hard to keep her eyes open as they walked to the car. Rich picked her up and placed her in the car, asking how she felt. “I hate things have to happen like this, but I know it’s the best for her.” They started driving to the house and Grace looked over at Rich, taking his hand. “Thank you for staying there with me tonight.” Soon, they were home and Grace got out of the car, walking with Rich upstairs. She changed out of her clothes and settled on the bed, quickly falling asleep.
Mrs. Jules glanced at Grace, she didn’t look mad just concerned, “You should go home. We can take it from here.” She looked over at Nick, “You too young man.” Nick nodded. “Yeah,” he said “I’ll just come back tomorrow.” Cheyannes dad interrupted, “She won’t be here tomorrow. We decided to take her to a treatment center near home so she can be with family.” Nick’s eyebrows furrowed, “She’ll come back, right?” Nick looked over at Grace to see her reaction. Mrs. Jules spoke, “We don’t think it’s the best idea to keep her here. She can’t handle being alone.”Rich got up and held Grace’s hand in his. Grace nodded at the news sadly. Nick looked a bit desperate. “Nick…I agree with them. I think Cheyanne needs supervision. Before this entire thing happen she was in massive amounts of denial that trusting her to get better on her own. Is not the way to go.” Rich looked at the concerned parents. “Night Mr. and Mrs. Jules.” As they were leaving Rich felt Grace’s weight on him and she was fully exhausted. Falling asleep as we walked. Rich chuckled and picked Grace up putting her in the passenger seat. “How are you feeling?”

Suddenly, the door opened and Grace looked up to see Danny, who she had never met in person. He introduced himself and shook Grace’s hand, thanking her. Grace shook her head. “I would help Cheyanne with anything.” He hugged her and she was caught off guard at first but hugged him back before pulling away. Grace looked at Rich. “Danny, this is my husband Rich. Gio’s told you about him.”Rich hugged Grace and told her Cheyanne was going to be okay. He told her it was time she told Cheyanne’s parents. Grace nodded and Rich leaned down to kiss her. She returned the kiss and pulled away, standing to walk into the hallway. She pulled out her phone and dialed her aunt and uncle’s number. Grace’s aunt answered and Grace explained everything that had been happening with Cheyanne. Her aunt began crying hysterically but once she calmed she assured Grace they would be in Bristol later that night. After Grace got off the phone, she walked back into the room and sat down with Rich, waiting.
When Danny left Gio’s shop he walked around a bit smoking on his cigarettes. Until he wanted to check in on Cheyanne. As soon as Grace said that she was in the hospital. He started to make his way toward the hospital. For a second he thought life was turning around until he learned how much help Cheyanne needed and then learned that his mum was losing it again. Danny walked to the hospital and walked to the nurse asking for Cheyanne Jules. The nurse said that only family could go in the room. Danny leaned over taking the woman’s hand. “Please. I need to see her.” The woman looked at him and melted and led him to the room. He opened the door and saw who he assumed was Rich holding Grace. With Cheyanne sleeping soundly. “Hey…I’m Danny.” He put out his hand shaking Grace and Rich’s hand. He looked at Cheyanne for a moment before turning back to Grace. “Thanks for listening to me and for trying to get help for her. I think I fucked it all up.” Danny looked at Grace and then hugged her. He knew it was strange since they just met but he really needed a hug.

She’s lucky you found her when you did, or she most likely would have slipped into a coma.” Grace looked at the doctor with big eyes and nodded. “Thank you doctor.” She walked back into the room and sat beside Rich. “She was killing her body, if I hadn’t found her when I did, she would have slipped into a coma and died.” Grace choked up saying the last part and started crying again. “I have to tell her parents, she’ll hate me, but I have to tell them.”Rich watched as Grace went and talked to the doctor. He was worried and when Grace walked over to him he knew something horrible was happening. Grace could barely say what was happening when she started crying. Rich put his arms around her and gave her a kiss. “You were there for her. Don’t doubt that. You were. She kept it a secret but when it count you were there. She’s okay you got to her.” Grace said she would have to tell her parents. “It’s time to take this out of her hands. Get her real help. She’ll realize what you and Danny did was best for her in due time, yeah?” Rich gave Grace a kiss.

Liv smiled and nodded as Grace said things were finally starting to get normal. “They are. And I’m really trying to stay positive but it seems like in Bristol when things are good and normal it’s only a matter of time before everything turns to shit.” Liv thought about before her and Gio had gotten back and pulled her legs up on the couch and to her chest before saying what was on her mind. “So speaking everything turning to shit. When Gio and I broke up I reached out to Matty. I don’t know why I did it. I’m not sure if I was trying to find closure or see if there was still a part of me that wanted to be with him. Or if i was trying to hurt Gio cause I was hurt. Talking to him again though made me realize there is nothing there now, nothing. I think I finally am able to completely walk away from that whole situation, I think I finally got closure.”

Grace giggled when Liv said Elise wasn’t allowed to grow up anymore. “It’s crazy isn’t it? Liv kissed Gio who was still laying in bed. “I’m going to go see Grace and Elise. You should probably rest I’m planning on wearing you out later.” Liv gave him a smirk before heading out the door. She was excited to see Grace and Elise. So much had happened and after Rich had gotten hurt Liv had pushed everyone away and she had missed Grace the most. As she approached the door she knocked anxiously. Grace opened the door and pulled her into a tight hug. “I’ve missed you too Gracey.” Liv followed her into the house sitting down on the couch. Liv smiled as Elise started giggling and started towards. Liv scooped her up into her arms making her giggle more as she kissed her cheeks like crazy. “You little girl are getting entirely to big and Auntie Liv does not like it.” Liv turned to Grace as she asked how she had been. “I’m okay. I know I’ve been disappearing but after Rich got hurt and Gio and I broke up I just got kinda lost, yeah. I’ve missed my best friend though and my god daughter. How have you guys been?”
“Big is the understatement of the century, yeah? I want her to stay like this forever I seriously can’t handle her getting any bigger.” Liv scrunched her face playfully at Elise and giggled as Elise tried to mimic it causing the little girl to burst out in giggles too. As Grace told her that her cousin had moved to Bristol Liv raised her eyebrow. “Which cousin is this? The one from your Mum’s side or your Dad’s? I’m always up to meeting new people I suppose. Does she party? Can she keep up with me?” Liv smirked at Grace knowing that she was probably thinking no one can keep up with her. “Has Rich talked to Gio?” Liv was anxious to tell Grace her news, but also was a little hesitant everything had gone to shit so quickly and things were changing once again really quickly. It made her feel like she was on a roller coaster.
Liv bit her lip as Grace asked about Gio, but before she could answer Elise announced she wanted to walk. Liv’s jaw dropped as Elise took a few steps towards her blanket before landing into a sitting position. Liv looked at Grace in shock. “Seriously no more growing up for her. I can’t handle this.” Liv saw that Grace was still waiting to here about Gio. “We went through a really rough time after the accident and I really didn’t know if I could trust him again. But I love him Gracey and I realized that deep down I can’t imagine not having him. So we got back together and he asked me to move in.” Liv paused waiting for Grace’s reaction.
Grace looked at her phone when Rich texted her back. She wiped the tears from her face and waited a few minutes for Rich to come. It was taking awhile so she got up, kissed Cheyanne’s cheek and walked to the front desk to wait for him. As she walked closer she could hear arguing and turned the corner to see Rich yelling at the nurse at the front desk. Grace walked up to them. She explained to the nurse who Rich was and the nurse finally nodded reluctantly, letting him go to Cheyanne’s room. She hugged Rich tightly and started crying again. “I’m so worried Rich. No one’s told me anything.” She stayed with her arms wrapped around him for a few more moments before composing herself and taking his hand to walk into Cheyanne’s room.Grace was on a walk trying to clear her mind. She had been worried sick ever since her talk with Cheyanne. She was turning to walk home when she heard her phone go off. “Hello?” She answered. All she heard after was Cheyanne scream her name. It caught Grace off guard and scared her so she completely forgot about going home and went straight to the bus stop. She could feel tears in her eyes and all she kept thinking was the worst case scenario. Once off the bus, Grace ran down the sidewalk to Cheyanne’s flat and quickly swung the door open, seeing Cheyanne on the ground. “Cheyanne!” Grace ran over and kneeled down beside her. She began crying and couldn’t compose herself. She pulled out her phone and dialed 911, telling them the address. Soon enough the ambulance had arrived and came to the flat, putting Cheyanne on the stretcher and loading her into the back. Grace climbed in beside her and held onto her hand tightly until they arrived at the hospital. Once Cheyanne was in a room, Grace went to check on her. The doctors hadn’t told her anything yet so she sat there, consumed with worry and then remembered to text Rich to let him know what happened.Rich was playing with Elise on the blanket while Grace took a walk. He looked at the clock and realized that far too much time had passed for her normal walks. Rich picked up Elise and she looked at Rich curiously. “Dada?” Rich kissed here forehead as he opened the front door looking around for Grace. “Where is mama?” Rich sat down on the couch debating on whether he should text her or not. Until his phone vibrated. Something happened with Cheyanne. Rich quickly texted her back before heading into the nursery for Elise’s over night bag. “We’re going to see Papa and Nana baby girl.” Rich put her in her car seat as he drove to his parents house. Quickly dropping Elise off. He told Elise he loved her and gave her a kiss before getting back into the car heading to the hospital Once he was there he went to the front desk asking for Cheyanne Jules. The nurse kept denying him. He was getting frustrated. “She’s my wife’s cousin and my wife should be here. Her name is Grace Hardbeck. Will you give me some fucking answers you useless twat.”
